DVO 2: Davao Traipse

Waking up to a DVO morning meant downtown traipsing, smelling the durian by the stalls, mixing textures, wardrobe-wise and tasting their own serving of a Si-Log meal.

Look at how omni-potent and all-around that kind fo doctor is! Impressive! I've noticed, too, that this part of DVO has numerous ARCADE-type establishments.

Brunch time, I already set my sights (and stomach) set for some lutong-bahay meal. With TAPS's silog meals, nothing could come close & be more authentic to their SINIGANG na rice! Plus the plate looked retro probinysa home! Quaint & humble.

A motorcycle or "habal-habal" ride is a personal provincial cheap thrill!

We arrived at BLUJAZZ RESORT at a very high-sun time. Perhaps the owners could rename for..the better? People (especially young ones) might get biased since it sounds mature, referring to a jazz club or the like. Anyway, what it looked like was a summer camp for family! Wholesome and camp-y alright: a mini-zipline station, barbecue huts, moms and yayas rushing and guarding their little ones and a crazy multi-level, octupossal pool slide!

Until we walked in to the resort's bar kiosk, I realized this place was a beauty! A low-sitting lanai adjacent the kiosk, a row of African Zulu-inspired beach rooms, an infinity pool where one's cheeks can be kissed by the amorous sunset and a bar chockablock of liquor. But the downside? Came dinner time, the person-in-charge at the kiosk would DISCOURAGE us from ordering.
We ordered calamaris and garlic chicken, he says "dugay pa baya maluto sir/mam" (it will take a long time for those to cook sir/mam) and followed-up with "daghan pa baya mi giluto sir/mam" (we still have a lot to cook). And he bids us off carelessly.
What restaurant would discourage their clients of ordering? Wouldn't they want to, simply, EARN? If they can't take the pressure, should they have done that? IDK. We just settled for garlic peanuts! AND I personally went on buying good ol' grilled barbecue at P30 per stick and lovingly-cooked sticky rice.
